Ok so I have to admit to being absolutely terrible the past couple of days. We left Vietnam, and traveled for 56 hours to get to Chiang Mai. The past week I have had lots of junk food, sugar, soda, haven't worked out and haven't been that great about quiet times. I've seen and felt a difference in my heart and body. It's awful!!! Tomorrow starts back up...

So yesterday I had a good run, though I did take it a little bit slower than normal. I'm still trying to let my knee heal. For breakfast I had yogurt and muesli, and I had that for lunch also. Dinner was rice and an egg with popcorn and I broke and had a pepsi because it came with the popcorn at the movie. I shouldn't have and it kept me up. I did have a good quiet time :)

Ok so still trying to
juggle eating healthy with not spending so much money on food. Yesterday was
yogurt and muesli for breakfast with lunch being a peanut butter sandwich and
dinner being 1 ½ peanut butter sandwiches. I also ate a lot of fruit. It was Sunday,
so I didn’t work out, but I did have a good quiet time.

Ok breakfast was yogurt and muesli. Lunch was 2 french bread
with cheese again. Dinner was a peanut butter sandwich and then Bethany and I got
ice cream together. The sugar kept me up
for hours! I couldn’t sleep. I walked for over an hour for exercise, but couldn’t
run because my knee still hurt a lot. I am catching myself not wanting to put the added money and effort into really watching completely what I eat so struggling with that a bit.

Ok breakfast of yogurt and muesli with 2 loaves of French bread(these
are small loaves) with cheese in them for lunch and some fresh spring rolls
with vegetables in them a some peanut butter and apple for dinner. I sprained my knee, so I didn’t work out L but did have a good
quiet time.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Ok so breakfast was yogurt and muesli, lunch was half of a sandwich. Dinner was a roll, a small pretty nasty thing of potatoes, and some popcorn chicken. We went to get ice cream for desert. I had some mango and peanut butter for a late night snack. Had a really hard intense workout and good quiet time.

Ok so it was a bit of a rough day as far as food. Breakfast was yogurt and muesli and tea. Lunch I had some pizza and a small salad with a 7up. Dinner was nan bread and chicken curry with rice. I didn't have much chicken and rice. But still.. I felt fat after eating that much today. I did workout and have a good quiet time.

Really good workout. Yogurt, muesli and fruit for breakfast again. Lunch was salad and a mixed berry smoothie(that apparently had sugar in it, because it kept me awake and made me feel a bit sick, obviously i haven't been eating a bunch of sugar). Dinner was pineapple and a chicken and cucumber sandwich on homemade whole wheat roll. So yummy!

Good workout and good quiet time :) Yogurt and muesli for breakfast. Salad and bruschetta bread for lunch. Dinner was a piece of nan bread. I'm eating a lot of fruit, but still being bad about how much water I drink.

Ok so don't feel so great because of the fried chicken that was on the salad last night(even though I avoided a lot of it). My stomach just can't seem to do that anymore. I had a breakfast of yogurt, muesli and fruit as normal. Lunch we went out with some students and they took us to Pizza Hut, so I had some pizza. Dinner I was out with another student and we went to a vegetarian restaurant where I got tofu fried rice and nan. She also took me out to ice cream, so I had ice cream. Trying to figure out how to handle future situations like that, because I really hate the nasty feeling I have after eating things like pizza or ice cream. Not to mention it kills my stomach now! I've already changed a lot. Also had a good workout, and good quiet time. :)

Clarks's birthday!! Yah!! So breakfast was yogurt, muesli and fruit. Late lunch of fried rice and amazing nan bread at the Indian restaurant right below us. Dinner we went to Hard Rock Cafe' and I had a salad that was incredible, and 1 bite of cheesecake. :) I had a good/run/workout, as well as a good quiet time.

Yesterday was busy! Had fruit and yogurt and muesli for breakfast. Lunch was a little bit of rice and vegetables. Dinner was a super fresh chicken sandwich on a homemade wheat roll and then fruit and a strawberry smoothie(its just ice, strawberries and a little condensed milk for flavor). I played Ultimate Frisbee for an hour and ran for 30 minutes and did a good core workout. Another good quiet time. :)

Yesterday was a good day :) And feeling good today for it! Had a really good intense workout. Then had some yogurt and fruit and muesli for breakfast. Lunch was a Chef's salad(might I add, it was amazing!!) and a little french bread. Dinner was half a serving of pasta and then some sort of fresh fruit juice. Also good quiet time :)

Yesterday I had a good workout. Also had a decent quiet
time, but not really as long as I would have liked it. Breakfast was a banana, a pomegranate, some
yogurt and muesli. Lunch was 2 pieces of bruschetta bread and a cesar salad.
Throughout the day I had lots of fruit. Dinner was a ham and cheese sandwich
and some French bread and then I failed and had some oreos and an oreo shake. I
can feel it today and I hate it. Also, I realized how unsatisfying they were. Even
though I ate them, they didn’t make the desire for them go away. I just wanted
more. So it doesn’t make sense to eat them. I am learning a lot about myself
through all of this.

So yesterday was Sunday so I didn’t work out. I had a good
quiet time. I ate muesli and yogurt for breakfast. A big lunch of fried rice,
nan, and then some popcorn and 2 truffles later in the day. For dinner I had a
mango and a passion fruit smoothie thing. Feel great again today!

So yesterday started the ‘new program’ of 1 hour workout and
1 hour quiet time every morning. Felt really really good J Had yogurt and muesli
for breakfast. It was incredible. And I don’t like breakfast, so I have a new
favorite. Lunch I ate a couple bites of
rice noodles and lettuce. Dinner I had 2 enchiladas with a very small portion
of ‘mexican’ rice and then had a dragon fruit shake and some pomegranate! Good
day, especially because I feel sooo good today! Starting to try and look at each choice as a step towards something in the future and be thinking about that.

Found it!! So breakfast was a slice of pineapple. Lunch was a bowl of noodles with mentos and a glass of passion fruit juice. Dinner was a hotdog/crescent roll thing and a brownie. Had a good hour quiet time.

Ok so my computer crashed and I'm having a hard time finding what I ate on the 8th, but I'll keep looking.
On November 9th though, I ate french bread for breakfast, an apple, a thing of milk, a sandwich and some bread for lunch. Starting at 2pm that day, I also started a fast. So I didn't eat the rest of the day. Had a good quiet time. No exercise short of constantly walking around.

Ok so still trying to figure out how to be healthy here. Or
where to exercise. It’s going to be a big struggle to do it. For breakfast I
ate a small loaf of French bread. Didn’t eat lunch, and for dinner I had a
quesadilla with some sort of milk vitamin drink and a snickers bar. I didn’t
work out, but did have a good quiet time. (which as there is no where to get away
to, I find kind of hard also) To God be the continual glory. This is all possible by His strength, not mine.

Yesterday, half of the day was traveling. I ate pineapple,
crackers, some cookies and 2 pieces of grape candy. Lunch was a small thing of
taco rice. Dinner was a slice of pizza and a salad with a brownie. I didn’t work
out other than walking around with a 50lb back pack for a while. Did have a
quiet time on the bus. Not sure how exactly I’m going to eat healthy here… so,
it might take a couple of days to get it all sorted out.

Ok so last day in Cambodia. Breakfast was an apple, a handful of nuts and a slice
of dog meat. Lunch was quiche with a pineapple shake and some pineapple. Dinner
we were on a bus traveling to Vietnam so I ate some chips, popcorn and crackers
as that is all we had. I worked out in the morning and had a good quiet time.

Ok so yesterday was a really really bad day as far as food
goes. The staff of the base threw a going away breakfast for us so I had 2 pieces
of French-toast-ish-stuff, 1 slice of turkey bacon and a spoon full of
scrambled eggs and some pineapple. Lunch I had a fruit salad with a handful of
chips and 2 chips ahoy cookies. Dinner another team member took us out to this
nice restaurant and I had a cheesy pasta with some bread and for dessert had
ice cream and a brownie. I really don’t feel like I ate that much, but at the
same time I felt awful afterwards. I think my belly is going Asian on me and I
can’t do the American portions anymore. I did have an awesome quiet time and
God really showed me some things and provided. I spent around 2 hours on the
bikes also.

So
yesterday I had a really good quiet time, as well as around an hour and a half
on the bikes. I ate oatmeal for breakfast, mac and cheese with rice for lunch
and rice and cucumbers and a little tiny bit of chicken for dinner. I had 2
apples and a pineapple and some mixed nuts throughout the day. However, I had
ice cream twice. Together they totaled about one small blizzard(thankfully
portions here are a lot smaller). But I can feel how much my stomach doesn’t
like that much sugar anymore. Which I guess is a good thing. I hadn’t really
had any sugar for around a week. We leave tomorrow for Vietnam, so after
tomorrow it may be a couple days before I can update again.

So, yesterday I finally was feeling at least mostly better! Which was very nice because I was going insane being sick. We went out to breakfast with Nate and Megan who are visiting us, YAY! I had some ham and cheese quiche and a mango shake. Lunch was once again rice and veggies and meat along with some little oranges. Throughout the day I had an apple and a real orange. Dinner I had some rice and some mac and cheese(can I just saw how exciting that was!!). I've noticed I'm being good in a lot of areas but struggling to drink as much water as I should. I am starting to carry around a water bottle with me where ever I go. I had my hour quiet time with God. I also biked for 1 1/2 hours.

Ok so yesterday I was still sick. So no exercising. I did
have quiet time again throughout the day. I had oatmeal for breakfast,
cucumbers and rice and an orange for lucn and some sort of rice and veggies and
meat for dinner(to be honest, I don’t remember exactly what it was, I forgot to
write it down because of being sick). I’ve noticed I’ve pretty much cut out
most sweet things and crappy food for me in general. Which is surprising because
it wasn’t really one of my goals that I’ve set. But I think it’s helping me
reach other ones… I have been working on memorizing the verses in 1 Corinthians
9:24-27 as a daily reminder to me of the need for self discipline. It
says: Don’t you know that the runners in
a stadium all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win
the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However they do it to receive a crown that
will fade away, we for a crown that will never fade. Therefore, I do not run
like one who runs aimlessly, or bow like one beating the air. Instead, I
discipline my body and bring it under strict control. So that after preaching
to others, I myself may not be disqualified.

Ok so yesterday I was pretty sick. Not fun, so no exercise.
I did have quiet time spaced throughout the day and falling asleep and fading
in and out. But I ate an orange and a banana for breakfast, rice with veggies
and a little pork and some sort of string thing and a banana for lunch and rice
and veggies for dinner.

Another crazy day yesterday. Started off by getting
breakfast with Buddy. Had an incredible fruit salad with a little yogurt and
muesli on it, a new favorite to be sure. Lunch was a pb&j with some
crackers, a banana and some rumbatan. Dinner we spent at the orphanage, and I
ate what I was served so as not be rude so I admit to having a coke. I had 2 meat
on a stick with a serving of rice and some sort of vergtable over the rice that
was pretty nasty and the some jack fruit and roasted jack fruit seeds. I rode
my bike for an hour and also played an intense soccer game for an hour. Had probably
around a 45 minute quiet time spread out over the day.
Also, I am starting to make weekly goals for myself to try and keep me motivated even on short term

Yesterday was an absolutely crazy day! Started off by
getting up at 4:30am and headed towards Angkor Wat. I brought some fruit with
me and over the course of the trip I ate an apple, orange and a pineapple. I
also ate a cinnamon bun though and I hate to admit it, but I had an energy
drink. But it was a special Cambodian one that also has a lot of vitamins in
it. If given the choice again, I would still drink it as going on 4 hour of sleep I wanted to
have a brain for climbing the ruins of the once great city. For lunch I had a
serving of rice with vegetables, ½ an egg and some cashews. Dinner had a half
serving of rice with a golden dollar size piece of meat and a slice of dragon
fruit. Later we all went and hung out at a café and I had a mango fresh fruit
shake(I believe it just had mango and crushed ice blended together) and a piece
of French bread. For exercise I spent almost 7 hours walking and climbing around
Angkor Wat and then rode my bike for 30 minutes. Had an hour long quiet time
with God, and finished the book of Exodus!

Friday was an insane day. Ate an apple and some oatmeal for breakfast. Lunch was half a serving of rice with eggplant and some pineapple. Dinner was a serving of rice with some sort of noodle and mushroom soup over it. Also had 2 bananas and another apple throughout the day. I did around 2 hours of bike riding, but no muscular training. 1 hour quiet time with God, along with a couple hours worshiping with everyone at the church that night.

Ok so internet has been out for a couple of days so I'm a tad behind on posting! sorry!!!
Thursday I had oatmeal and an apple and an orange for breakfast and a small serving of rice with green beans and a sliver of meat and a couple cashews. Dinner however, Buddy treated us all to a buffet, so I ate way more than I should. I really don't know what all I ate, but for desert I really did just have fruit and a little bit of chocolate. Had another really good hour quiet time with God. Did an hour of bike riding, and did planks, push ups, sit ups and crunches and really stretched my shoulder.

Ok so yesterday was pretty good. (I say that a lot, huh?)
Breakfast we had with Rich and Melissa and Jayden at The Blue Pumpkin. I had a
couple bites of a fruit salad and then an egg and a piece of whole grain bread.
For lunch I had a small serving of rice with this cucumber, and tomato thing
that was seasoned with lime and had a little bit of chicken in it and then some
rambatan. Dinner another small serving of rice with what we think was sweet
potoatoes but they we’re sautéed with curry powder instead of being bad for
you. Justin bought some bread/cake stuff from The Blue Pumpkin, so I had half
of a piece for my sweet thing of the day. Finished off the day with some
pineapple! So good. Rode the bike for another hour and also did a lot of
stretching in my arm and did pushups, planks, sit ups and crunches. Had one of the most amazing quiet times
yesterday for around an hour/hour and a half. Really prayed for my family a
lot.

Yesterday was a pretty good day again. I actually had a sweet thing, it was this orange shake thing. Not really completely sure what it was, but it kind of tasted like Fruity Pebbles(which, sound really good right now I might add). I rode the bike for an hour again, just doing our trek to school and back twice, but I didn't do any strengthen exercises as my shoulder was really hurting. I did do some stretches with it though, and that helped a lot. Breakfast I had a piece of bread with a light spread of strawberry jelly with 2 glasses of water. For lunch I had cucumbers, rambatan fruit, a serving of rice and sweet and sour chicken and carrots thing with 2 glasses of water. Dinner was rice and bean sprouts and chicken and a banana. I can't remember how much water I drank though. I also had a really good hour long quiet time with God. I really feel He is giving me the strength to become more self disciplined.

So yesterday was a pretty good day. An hour of quiet time,
plus we had base praise and worship which was amazing! Ate 2 poached eggs for
breakfast with a piece of bread and two glasses of water. Lunch was a serving
of spaghetti noodles with a little bit to vegetable tomato sauce and 1 ½ pieces
of garlic bread and 3 glasses of water. Dinner was a serving of rice and
cabbage and pork with 4 glasses of water. I actually didn’t have ANYTHING
sweet(this is seriously a miracle for me). I spent around an hour on the bike
and also did pushups, planks, crunches and stretches. Ready to have a good day
today!

The Beginning
So this blog is started as a way to make me work on my
discipline. I hate it so badly when other people see me fail. So, the theory is
that by putting all the information out there, anyone reading this becomes my
encouragement to keep being disciplined. I plan on doing this until I get back
to the USA in May. I am setting some goals along with this blog, that I want to
accomplish before that time as well as just daily goals that I can either pass
or fail. I may change these goals more and I go on. I want to glorify God in
all that I do. I don’t want anything to bring me any glory. My plans for
attempting to be more disciplined are centered around the idea that I cannot do
this by myself. They are centered around the idea that one of the things I am
working to be more disciplined at is my time alone with Jesus. In doing that, I
hope to daily rely more and more on HIS strength, and less and less on mine.
SO!
The Goals:
Daily!
- · Read my bible for at least 30 minutes
- · Spend at least 15 minutes in prayer
- · Spend at least 15 minutes listening
- · No soda
- · 1 kind of sweet thing a day
- · Smaller portions
- · Drink a glass of water before every meal, and just drink more water in general
- · Stretch/strengthen my shoulder
- · Some sort of cardio exercise
- · Some sort of muscle strengthen exercise
Long Term!!
- · Be consistant with my time with God without needing this blog!!!
- · Be someone who is super sensitive to God’s voice
- · Read the Old Testament before getting home
- · Run a 5k in 18 minutes
- · Run a 10k(I have to look up what good times are… I have no idea)
- · Weigh 140lbs (currently at around 160?? I’ll double check that number though)
SSo, this starts today. I am going to try to update this daily, with how I did the previous day. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not... but here it goes!
